Harold Gill


It’s our pleasure to introduce Harold Gill,also known as Mr. Motown vocalist
extraordinaire and one of the featured vocalist of the Mambo Jazz Kings.
The Premier Show Band of Houston. Harold has polished his presentation
and showmanship through a number of remarkable musical opportunities. He
began his singing career at Paseo High School in Kansas City MO. As a
member of the Inspirations, a vocal group that had the look of the
Impressions, the sound and choreography of the Temptations, this group
won several talent shows around town, and was picked up as an opening act
for Albert Collins, and Bloodstone(then known as the Sinceres). Influenced by
such greats as Jackie Wilson,Sam Cooke,Eddie Kendrick’s, Johnny Taylor,
Little Anthony and Smokey Robinson, helped develop his velvet smooth
style.  In 1968 Harold joined the Navy, and moved to San Diego Ca. While
overseas he performed at the Harlem Club in the Philippines, with Dennis
Davis, (Stevie Wonders drummer). And the Playboy Club in Hong Kong. Also
an accomplished drummer Back in San Diego, he became a member of High
Voltage Inc. Playing drums, and lead vocals.  He Co-wrote and produced
their first single BAD LUCK. While touring the country, a club owner in Salt
lake City convinced the band that Harold should be out front instead of on
drums. He’s been a front man ever since, he co founded the Seventh
Wonder, a flashy show group that opened for many National touring acts like
Taste of Honey, and Cecil Womack,  Harold has shared the stage with  Al
Green,James Cleveland,Diana Ross,Lakeside, The Drifters,The Chi-lites,  
Dean Scott, Main Ingredient, Norwood Jones,Paul Rodriguez,Bill Engvall,
Renaldo Rey,
The Temptations,Smokey Robinson and Mary Wells.  While in
California,Harold recorded three gospel songs with the Community
Missionary Baptist Church of Redlands Ca. THE LORD WILL MAKE A WAY,
SEND IT ON DOWN,and GOD HAS SMILED ON ME.  Now in Houston,
Harold has recorded five singles, I CAN MAKE YOU PARTY, and I'M
GONNA BE SWEET TO YOU, two songs he wrote,and sung lead and all the
background harmonies, a cover of Rose Royce WISHING ON A STAR, I
WANT TO SHOW YOU LOVE written by his son D'Anthony Davis,and  
AIN'T IT FUNNY HOW TIME SLIPS AWAY,written by Willie Nelson, which  
is still in demand in France. This song stylist has a smooth delivery that
makes you hunger for more, and a vocal range from Barry White to Philip
Bailey. While in Texas Harold has been a member of Seabreeze,The Drifters,
Harold Gill &CC Rider,and currently the Mambo Jazz Kings. A t
